I made these (and a handful more that I forgot to take pics of) for my sister in law.  It’s the first time I’ve used a sewing machine since Jr High but I have to admit they turned out pretty cute!

L has been wanting to cook for me for some time now.  He’s pulled together recipes and we went shopping for the ingredients and let me tell you…grocery shopping was adventure of its own.  Bless his little heart, but that guy can not do anything small.  He’s never cooked and he decides he’s going to make Chicken Scallopine.  I think it took us about an hour of wondering the store with L asking me questions that made me wonder if my acting skills were gonna be good enough if this meal took  wrong turn.  Questions such as…”Do you think I could substitute chipotle for cayenne pepper?”  Now, I am not a chef by all means.  I do cook for L quite often but it’s pretty basic 4 ingredients kinda stuff ya know.  In fact, my George Foreman grill and I have a very close relationship.  Anyhow…so when he asked me about the chipotle…well, I thought that was just a kind of sauce.  I’m no help.  But I have to admit…he did pretty well.  He had a few hiccups but all in all, it was a great meal. (Except he forgot to make a side and he was very disappointed about it! lol He’s too cute!)  And couple days later he gave it another go and made chicken parmasagna which was pretty amazing.  He’s good at everything dang him! 🙂

And did I mention I made him a Chef’s hat for the occasion?

And this is why I love my boss…

Our Cinco de Mayo lunch patron shot.  Another great day at work!  I just love the shot glasses too.  Really…How cute are they?

Just thought I’d share my love of Toyota’s with you.  I have 1994 Toyota 4Runner that just hit a milestone!

And yes…I was going 67 mph as I snapped the photo on my phone.  What??  I couldn’t NOT document this milestone.  That wouldn’t be fair to the Yota!

So last weekend L and I planned on having a date night in because our week had been so crazy. I made dinner and we watched a movie.  Well, maybe a night in wasn’t the best idea seeing how L was so tired, it only took a couple of beers to knock him out.  And seeing that we were watching Beer Fest (the reason we were drinking beer in the first place…fyi the movie’s not that funny) I was inspired by a hat one of the characters wore.  As L snored lightly on the couch I took the Coors Lite box, my glue gun and whatever randomness I could find and made him a present.

My version.  Whattya think?  Excuse the quality of the pic…it was on my phone. 🙂

So, my very first niece was born last month and I was so excited it was a girl!  I wanted to send her something really girly and what can be more girly than a tutu?  I know…she’s a little young for ballet but have you seen pics of an adorable baby in a tutu?  Until you have, do not judge me!  🙂 Here’s what you can do with some tulle, elastic, ribbon and thread…

This one was for baby Elise and now I want to make one for every baby I meet!  🙂

This was originally for Elise but thought it to be a little to punk for her parents! I’ll find a chuck t’s, skull & cross-bones wearing baby to give this to so she can rock it out appropriately

And this is what happens when you’re bored and have left over tulle.  She didn’t seem to mind!

For a great tutorial on these babies check out Plum Tickled’s blog.  http://plumtickled.typepad.com/plumtickled/2007/08/tutu-tutorial-t.html

Okay…so I’d like to share with you just how much of a doll my bf L is.   I live in an apartment with my sis so there’s not much room that I can dedicate to my crafting.  I was at the dining table when I looked around and realized that it had been taken over by fabrics, buttons, canvas, paint…if it’s a craft supply…it was probably in my dining room.  So I was talking to L one night about how I wanted to get some peg board so I can organize (or at least try to) my supplies.  Before I knew it, he had me at the hardware store picking out pegboard and hooks.  And this is what he made me…

It’s awesome because its double sided and mobile. I can fold it up and tuck it away when I need to…not that I’d ever want to!   Oh…and it was so stinking cute how excited he got to make this for me.  Now that’s love…sigh.

  • Melissa E.: P.S. Do you have an iPhone? If you do, you should download the tiltshift app. They make the photos from your camera look worlds better, plus it's real
  • Melissa E.: Sweet bracelets!! I love that you channeled your inner 12 year old and used a hemp braiding technique. You clever crafter, you! We must be on simil
